Confidential · HPCSA-registered providers

STI symptoms and testing, HIV testing, PrEP and PEP, contraception questions — assessed online by HPCSA-registered South African providers. Discreet from the first question to the last.
If you may have been exposed to HIV, time matters
PEP is a short course of medicine that can prevent HIV infection after a possible exposure — but only if it is started within 72 hours, and it works better the sooner it is started. Hours matter here, not days.
Start the assessment now and mark it urgent, and we will get you in front of a doctor as quickly as we can. If you cannot be seen the same day, please do not wait for us. Go to your nearest clinic or hospital casualty (emergency) department and ask for PEP. PEP is available at public clinics and casualty units across South Africa, and you do not need an appointment to ask for it.
This applies after a condom breaks, after sex without a condom when you do not know the other person’s status, after a needle-stick or occupational injury, and after sexual assault. If you have been assaulted, go straight to your nearest hospital casualty department or a Thuthuzela Care Centre — they provide PEP, emergency contraception and support in one place.
Sexual health is health. Nobody on the iScript Health team will ask you to justify your life, count your partners, or explain yourself. You will be asked clinical questions, given clinical answers, and treated like any other patient — because that is what you are.
Start PrivatelyThe process
No phone calls to a reception desk. No sitting in a waiting room hoping you do not see someone you know.
Step 01
About 3 minutes · Free
Answer a short set of clinical questions about your symptoms, any possible exposure, and your health history. You type it — you do not have to say it out loud to anyone.
Step 02
HPCSA-registered
An HPCSA-registered South African practitioner reads your assessment before you speak, so you are not starting from scratch and repeating the difficult part.
Step 03
Secure video or chat
You talk it through, ask the questions you have been sitting on, and agree a plan together — testing, treatment, prevention, or simply reassurance.
And afterwards
If testing is clinically indicated, your doctor arranges it through Ampath and explains exactly when to test given your window period. Results land in your secure iScript record, and your doctor works through them with you. Treatment, prevention and follow-up are decided with you — never assumed.

Start the private assessmentWhat we help with
Discharge, burning, sores, itching, pelvic or testicular pain, or anything that has changed and worried you.
Screening when you have no symptoms at all — before a new relationship, after a break in condom use, or simply as a routine check.
Testing arranged through an accredited laboratory, with a doctor to explain window periods, results and next steps either way.
Prevention taken before exposure. Your doctor assesses whether it suits your situation and explains the baseline tests and ongoing monitoring involved.
Emergency prevention after a possible exposure — which must be started within 72 hours. Flag your assessment as urgent.
Choosing a method, switching methods, side effects you are not happy with, or emergency contraception after unprotected sex.
How to raise testing, disclosure or a diagnosis with a partner — and support with partner notification if you want it.
A result from a clinic or a home test that you do not fully understand and would like a doctor to explain properly.
The doubt that will not go away after something happened. That is a legitimate reason to consult a doctor.
Prescription treatment, including PrEP and PEP, is issued only where a practitioner judges it clinically appropriate after assessment.
Confidentiality
Most people who delay sexual health care are not avoiding the doctor. They are avoiding the queue, the front desk, the person from church two chairs down, and the question they do not want to answer in a room with other people in it.
iScript Health removes all of that. You complete your assessment on your own phone, wherever you are. Your consultation is a secure video or chat session. Nothing appears on a public register, and nothing is shared with your employer, your family or your partner without your explicit consent.

Arrange a ConsultationEvery test has a window period — a stretch of time straight after exposure when an infection may not yet show up. Fourth-generation laboratory HIV tests detect most infections from roughly two to six weeks after exposure, so a test taken very soon after a possible exposure may need to be repeated. No HIV or STI test is 100% accurate, and your doctor will tell you when to test and when to re-test for your specific situation.

A person living with HIV who is on effective treatment and has a sustained undetectable viral load does not pass HIV on to sexual partners. This is the finding of the PARTNER and PARTNER2 studies.
When taken as prescribed, oral PrEP reduces the risk of acquiring HIV from sex by about 99%, according to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It requires a negative HIV test to start and ongoing monitoring.
PEP is given after a possible exposure and must begin within 72 hours. The earlier it starts, the better. It is a 28-day course, and your doctor will explain the follow-up testing that goes with it.
South Africa runs the largest HIV treatment programme in the world, with an estimated 7.8 million people living with HIV (UNAIDS South Africa country factsheet, 2023 estimates). Testing and treatment here are routine, ordinary healthcare.
